Terms of Use

1. About the service

ChinFace App is a browser-based creative tool. It lets you record a short video on your own device, applies character artwork and effects, and lets you download or share the result. The current service is provided through chinface.app.

Your recording is processed locally in your browser.

2. Agreement to these Terms

By accessing or using ChinFace App, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

3. Age requirement

• You must be at least 13 years old to use ChinFace App.
• If you are aged 13 to 17, you may only use ChinFace App with permission from a parent or legal guardian.
• A parent or guardian who permits a minor to use the service is responsible for supervising that use.

4. Camera, microphone and recording permission

• You choose whether to grant camera and microphone access. The service cannot record without your permission.
• Recordings are processed locally on your device.
• You are responsible for obtaining permission from every person who appears in a recording.
• You must not secretly, unlawfully or inappropriately record other people.
• You are responsible for where and how you share exported videos.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to use ChinFace App to:

• break the law;
• harass, threaten, exploit or abuse another person;
• create or share unlawful, hateful, sexually exploitative or seriously harmful content;
• create sexual content involving children;
• impersonate or deceive people in a harmful or fraudulent way;
• infringe copyright, trademark, privacy or other rights;
• record someone without the permission you need;
• introduce malware or attack the service;
• bypass usage limits or access controls;
• scrape, overload or misuse the service through automation;
• extract, resell or redistribute ChinFace assets as standalone asset packs;
• falsely suggest endorsement or affiliation with ChinFace App.

6. Your recordings and exported videos

• You keep your rights in your own original recordings.
• ChinFace App does not claim ownership of your raw recording.
• You are responsible for your recording and your exported content.
• ChinFace App does not upload or store your recording.
• You may download and share your exported ChinFace videos lawfully.

7. ChinFace intellectual property

• The app, its code, design, branding, logo, character packs and supplied assets belong to ChinFace App or its licensors.
• You receive a limited permission to use ChinFace assets as they are incorporated into videos you export through the app.
• You may not extract, copy, sell, sub-license or redistribute the standalone assets.
• You may not use the ChinFace App name or logo to imply sponsorship or endorsement.

8. Watermark

Some exported videos may include a “Made with ChinFace App” watermark. Where the app applies this watermark, you must not deliberately remove or obscure it.

9. Usage limits

To keep the service reliable and available, limits may apply, such as:

• recording-duration limits;
• daily export limits;
• fair-use controls;
• availability limits.

We may adjust these limits to keep the service reliable and available for everyone.

10. Third-party services

ChinFace App depends on third-party providers, including hosting (Vercel), stored application data (Supabase), the content-delivery networks that provide the MediaPipe face-tracking components, and your device’s operating-system sharing tools.

Third-party outages, browser restrictions or device limitations may affect the service. These providers do not receive your recording through ChinFace App.

11. Availability and changes

• The service may occasionally be unavailable.
• Features, packs and limits may change over time.
• We may suspend abusive use.
• We will make reasonable efforts to operate the service, but we cannot guarantee uninterrupted availability.

12. Disclaimers

• Results depend on your device, browser, lighting, camera, microphone and connectivity.
• Generated or transformed content may not always appear as expected.
• Because we do not keep a copy, you should keep your own copy of any exported videos you want to retain.

13. Our responsibility to you

Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes any rights you have that cannot be limited or excluded by law. In particular, we do not exclude or limit our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded. If you are a consumer, your statutory rights are not affected.

Subject to the above, we are not responsible for losses that were not reasonably foreseeable when you used the service. You are responsible for any unlawful recording or sharing that you carry out.

14. Ending or restricting use

We may restrict or end access to the service where someone:

• breaches these Terms;
• abuses the service;
• attacks the service;
• creates legal or safety risks.

15. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. If you are a consumer, you keep any mandatory rights that apply where you live, and you may be entitled to bring a claim in the courts that apply to your place of residence.
